That eyeliner and braces combo, though...

This very sexy and somewhat slightly perplexing artwork comes to you from 1375-1400, The Bellenville armorial, and is a lion. With something going on around his eyes and what looks like braces on it's teeth. And that goofy look that kids get when they are living their best life whilst wearing a tiara.

Whilst I have had a lot of fun with the Wise Men Memes, I was a little mindful that not everyone feels that religion should be used for memes, and I am legitimately surprised that I didn't have a mob of angry Christians commenting on this one.

1470, Jean de Wavrin, Flanders. Walters Art Gallery Manuscript W267, folio 65r, for those of you playing at home.

sister_raphael: (whatever)

Every year on social media I do a Twelve days of Christmas with a theme: Fabrics In nativities, Angry Donkeys In Nativities or whatever, and this year I've decided to just make a bunch of memes using the wise men at the nativity, one a day for the countdown! I won't post them all here every day because that would be truly annoying, but here's here's one of them.

I hope it brings a little giggle to your Xmas season, wherever you are and whatever you're doing. I'll be at home with my cat, but I have done a little online shopping while I've been recovering with my knee, and I've just been wrapping those and putting them under the tree so I have presents on Xmas morning, something I've not had for quite a few years, since most of the celebrations are done on other days because it's more convenient.

Temu

Whilst I've been home post-surgery, I've needed to spend a lot of time resting on the couch, which has led to a lot of phone time. Looking at craft supplies and things I wanted to get people for Christmas led me to install the Temu app, something I'd managed to not do so far.

Well.

I have now bout a tremendous amount of things from there, but as long as one is careful and reads the descriptions carefully instead of relying on the images which are not always honest representations of the things, it's saved me ab absolute packet! A lot of the fun T-shirts are good, especially the kids ones, and I've been able to get my sister's teens some fun ones for Xmas and birthdays.

The real amazing win was on craft items. Obviously shops get their stuff in bulk for very cheap to be able to make enough money to keep their doors open, and I found some things I wanted which were being sold on Etsy for 5 times the price, I've been able to get some great bits and pieces for crafting which I couldn't afford otherwise, and I'm really delighted with the quality. As long as I read the descriptions and quantities very, very carefully, it's been great.

I mean, there's a lot of rubbish on there too, but I have saved a ton. Xmas is very affordable this year.

Parents everywhere know this feeling!

When people don't play nicely on my social media pages, I ban them.

And by them, I mean him. She was okay. He was rude.

Bear In The Woods Meme
This is my Bear In the Woods meme. Lots of women were making their versions of these after the popular original meme started making the rounds, but I absolutely did not expect the response I got from this one.

Among the comments, a young man, looking no more than in his 20s with his mirrored sunglasses started up about how women who choose the bear don't understand that bears are dangerous. We explained that we do. He he started  going on about the stupidity of women who were choosing the bear if they thought it was dangerous. Women replied. He got rude. I blocked him from commenting because rudeness is not to be tolerated on my page and also, it's a page about medieval women and sewing mostly. He wasn't a page follower, just looking to Make His Point.

He got angry. In less than a minute he was back using a fake account. I know it was him, because he said I couldn't get rid of him so easily. I blocked him again and that's when it got really nasty. Almost immediately, I received a private inbox message saying if I didn't stop the virtue signalling, I'd end up r@ped and dead. Just like that. Over a meme.

I'm still shaking my head that this person didn't understand that this meme was... well, a meme.

Quite frankly I do love me a good T-towel! I bet I'm not the only one who has a "favourite!"

Happy Mothering Sunday to all who participate.

My favourite parenting game. What's that stain and where did it come from?

I never get invited to these parties.

And where's his other shoe?

sister_raphael: (wtf)

True story, except I'm the kid.

The clock's ticking and I'm still sewing!

Actually, it's not going that badly!
