Books at the Newcastle Medieval Festival 2025 are selling like hot cakes, with the Very Secret Sex Lives of Medieval Women completely sold out, and only a few Single Medieval Women remaining!

The gates are still open, and I hope to see you if I haven't already!

A big thank you to everyone who has supported me, as funds from the book sales help fund the displays that I do! I appreciate every one of you!

A few quick words about Medieval Women on ABC Radio, Newcastle with Jenny on Friday afternoon at Newcastle Medieval Festival.

As always, questions about hygiene! Were they dirty like we see in movies? How did they keep themselves nice? What kinds of things did they use?  Jenny was most interested to hear that I have reproductions of actual museum pieces in my Bath and Hygiene display, including mirrors, tweezers and nail cleaner!

We only had a short time on air to discuss these things, but it's clear that thanks to Hollywood and online media perpetuating these myths of dirty, unkempt women in the middle ages, that a lot more education is needed and I've still got a lot to do to spread the good word. Hygiene was a thing.

I am a bit alarmed at how much chonk I've managed to put on in the last two years and what with the knee issues, I am now on a mission to shake the unwanted kilos for my health. The scales inform me I am 18kg over my normal weight.

Good morning from Newcastle Medieval Festival.
It's almost 6am. The tent made it through the night but the winds are getting stronger. It will be very bad when I open the side up for display. Gusts of up to 49 km/hr overnight and picking up during the day with gusts up to 60km/hr predicted.

The wind came up, my tent was down and torn and this is all I have today.

One little table with almost nothing on it because it all just blows right off. Still, let's try to have a nice day.

In spite of a torn tent taken down for the day, it was lovely chatting to old friends, making new ones and having fun conversations! By the end of the day I made a dodgy half repair on the roof which should hold for tomorrow. So happy to be in my own tent but kinda sad its so early and I'm ready for bed!

Fingers crossed!

I'll be bringing my bath and hygiene display to Newcastle Medieval Festival 2025 at the end of August, so I've made a little sign to encourage passers by to stop in and explore my tent! I have things to touch and to smell!

I've got a new sign for Newcastle Medieval Festival (Saturday, 30th and Sunday, 31st August 2025)!

I'm not a stall, per se, so I won't have more than a handful of these tucked away with me in my Medieval Bathing & Hygiene Display. I shared this to social media for those who would like to pay now and collect at the event so they don't miss out!

If you want to avoid Amazon and you're not in the States, you can buy from bookshop.org. If you're in the States, a bunch of places stock them, but you can buy direct from Mango Publishing who are fighting the good fight over there.
