Although it's a little early to be doing bookmarks and printing little mini covers for promotions for the new book, there's cheap printing specials for Xmas, so it makes sense to save money right now and order.

The bookmarks came today. It is cheaper to print them on the size and cut them down the middle myself, so that's what I'm doing. Today I watched a movie and cut a heap up and I'm really loving them. I love the brown colour scheme and they're a nice, crisp print.

I'm delighted to announce that the biggest wall hanging which is often used for a bed curtain is complete with green woven band at the top and hooks to hand with. I have a rope which goes around the tent poles which the curtain hooks on to. Hopefully I have spaced them well enough to not sag, but f not, a hook in between each one will rectify the situation.

It's not totally the end of the project. I have some extra panels of curtains which I also will be finishing, but as a backdrop to something I want to use the weekend after this one coming, it's big enough as it is. I really do need to complete another project which has been lingering for an extended amount of time. The long-suffering kontusz, which, I know for a fact, the owned would be delighted to wear for the same event I want the roses wall hangings for.

And, as always, a number of other things on the go which must be dealt with- walking the cat, taking time to play with her in the garden, reading research books, food shopping, house inspections, cat sitters, packing for events, my actual day job, writing on the next few books, doing paperwork for my group to attend the upcoming events, social media, and I really want to get the three blog posts done for the three tooth care recipes we tried at collegium.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

I've been meaning to cross this off my list for quite a while too. Making some cute pearl-headed and carnelian or garnet headed pins to use for my medieval veils. Finally, I gave it a try.

I'm pretty pleased. I had some flat headed pins bought from our local craft shop. They came in a few sizes, so I chose the ones with the sturdiest shanks and the flattest heads. Then I looked through my leftover beads and pearls to find some with holes which were not too big or small. Because they aren't made properly and don't have a little twist underneath the bead, I used glue to stop the beads from slipping.

Then I clipped the pin end with little metal snips and sharpened the tip by dragging it on fine sandpaper.

They are not historically correct made that way, but are 90% okay and I'm pleased to make them myself for me!

A little progress on the Ex Libris Living History Parade shield! So far, I've done three coats of gold since I'm not doing actual gilding, and agonised about whether to do a border or not.

I decided to go with a black border and I'm glad I did. I feel it does make it stand out a little better. The writing under the squirrel's feet will be white with a thin black border, so I think that will work well too.

Fingers crossed!

I've made a start on the parade shield for Ex Libris Living History group, and I'm hopeful it will work well. The photocopier enlarged the image mostly well, and it transferred across not too badly. I'm in two minds about a few things, but I have settled on a gold background like we see in so many manuscripts. It's the same as in the original image of the squirrel, so I feel it's keeping in the theme.

I had thought to do matching flowers on the background like I did on the last shield, but I'm also considering grouped dots of three which is a theme we see a bit in medieval art too. Jury still out.
