The image is from a copy of the Roman de la Rose dated 1390. There are other similar in the 14th century, but no stands are exactly the same.

I'm pretty pleased with how this prototype has come out. It's still a work in progress, as the laverbo and bowl are in the post winging their way towards me. I've needed to make a few adjustments for practical use, but am happy with progress. Limited skills mean I'm doing my best, and it's a bit lightweight, so I may need to make another in the future, but I'm pretty happy with this as a prototype.

I've added a bottom support which the original image from the Roman de la Rose doesn't have, because it needs to be structurally strong to withstand members of the public and to combat the weight of the laver filled with water. I've used a square upright for the bowl because it's easier to slot in and remove from the stand for traveling. The wooden bowl is temporary (waiting for the brass bowl to arrive which is wider and flatter, and still thinking about the round bit on the end of the top.

The top section comes apart and pegs together, and the upright comes apart for traveling. I've used a square upright because I don't have the skills to do a round one with a collar. I have yet to add the bowl support but am waiting for the bowl to arrive so I can gauge the base size before I make the collar for that. Pretty happy with how it's working so far!
