Brooch bling!

Another small job before the next event!

I bought this leaf green wool cloak which will be re stitched by hand, but I also will be sewing these jewelled brooches onto it. I had a mustard cloak I was going to use but it seemed like too much brown. Green is better, yes?

The brooches themselves were a very generous gift, and I absolutely can't believe they are for me! Here's what they will look like on the cloak:

The red really pops against the green.

It really does! I think it's a tad too green for me, so I think it will do with a slight tone down. I'm going to wash it with 2 pairs of new red trousers, so the exhaust red dye should tone it down just a little.

I'm hopeful. But now I need to restitch it because it the thread stops it from dyeing properly ans then I remove the thread to resew afterwards... well, tears before bedtime for me then! :)

Ah yeah, synthetic thread won't take dye meant for natural fibers. I've got some tie-dyed T-shirts with the stitching still white.
