An incredible amount of excitement as the mead from actual Lindisfarne arrived!
It's been a long journey! A work mate was visiting the actual Lindisfarne mead place where they make several amazing meads including this traditional one, and he not only bought me a bottle, but had it sent over from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne to Australia as a surprise for me! It's creators describe it thus:
Lindisfarne Mead is produced using traditional methods at St. Aidan’s winery on Holy Island of Lindisfarne. This heady fortified wine uses honey sourced worldwide to create the perfect balance. St. Aidan’s winery stands in the clear unpolluted atmosphere of this most beautiful island. It has an ABV of 14.5% and is a unique blend of honey and wine with the sweetness of the honey lingering on the palate.
I'm sure you'll agree that it's needing of exactly the right kind of snacky treats to companion with. I couldn't be more excited and let me tell you, I have the best and most amazing work mate in the world to remember his nerdy history-loving friend back at work!
