Model Number 3 was incredibly obliging, especially since she wasn't a medievalist or re-enactor or history buff and knew nothing about medieval clothes other than what she'd seen in movies... and we all know how that goes!

She braved the barbette-and-fillet (headpiece), was interested in the buttons and was a good sport when it came time to wimple and look a bit like a nun. happily, once she say the jewelled fillet that went with the outfit, she was won over. I was able to get a variety of great looks for her, my lovely "Green Girl." I also sent her a Manesse Codex image with a lady in the headwear and she was again surprised that she looked just like the picture and very accurate! She was less worried after that!

Photo editing is taking ages, but I was able to message her a few quick Snapseed edits which she loved and said her Mother will love very much!

More models tomorrow, and I feel that theming the colours was definitely the right thing to do!

It's Go Time! Here's the silk barbette pinned and at the ready! I'm so excited to finally have the matching set back as a set, I've carefully hand-washed the frilled fillet which goes with it. It's been hot today, so that's dried and inside now too.

Actually, it's stitched up now too, but the photo is still on my phone, so that's a job for Future Rosalie!

Another small project started because it's going to be a really quick one and it goes with the myriad of things I'm also making.

I have a silk, frilled fillet but can't for the life of me find the matching silk barbette. Did I even have one? I just don't remember. The answer is to make a fresh one. It's an easy fold, fold, fold and then pins and stitch and it's done, so I've gathered the bits and pieces and got underway.

It will be a nice quick, little thing for when I just need a break from other things.

I had a really fun time setting up and giving the Winterkingdom 2023 talk today! The hour simply flew by for me but it was a heap of fun to share a couple of my original medieval artifacts.

It was really nice meeting some people I know from social media (and their cats!) in person, as it were.

I was able to get some nice photos for future promotions as well and made the very good discovery that the rear camera on my phone is brilliant but the selfie camera really is a bit hit and miss. Nevertheless,  with the timer, I was able to get some nice photos.

I'm also excited to have the following week off to work on new book things.  My head is so busy it's going to explode!

I'm still going on the photo editing for the website and our Ex Libris Living History Insta and fb pages and having quite a bit of fun photoshopping family members into backgrounds. Yes, my skills are not the most fantastic, but literally anything is better than my lounge room and walls with cat toys all over the place.

Some take longer than others, especially teenage niece whose thing is goth black and gloomy. I've needed to edit out all her black fingernail polish and as she was wearing no make-up, she asked that I remove her pimples as well. Also a hairpiece. And quite frankly, a head-swap to give her long hair in this setting as the one in a wimple and veil which I absolutely adore, wasn't something she liked herself. I'll be using the other one for things, but as I wanted to tag her in this pic, I didn't want to embarrass her in front of her friends.

It's not hard, but it takes forever.
