sister_raphaelI'm not getting as much done as I'd like but I;m certainly getting things done.
Today I managed to order new poles for my tent and arrange them to be cut to size, so all I'll need to do is put the spikes on the top and chisel out where the joiners will go. I even found aluminium pole which may work as joiners, although my old ones are galvanised steel and very sturdy. Aluminium may not be ok, but I'll check it out and see.
The new washing machine works really well although I'm still not sure if that's what set the cat off on her 4 day rampage of skittishness. She's now stress peeing and back on meds to help her calm the heck down.
I also did a big tidy up in my work room, although it's still cramped. I had packed the trailer for the next medieval event but unprecedented 80% humidity meant most of Brisbane was dealing with mould on pretty much everything and I needed to unpack it again and check everything was ok. It was, except for some wooden tent poles and my dining chairs. Phew!
I've found online some bits and pieces I wanted to make new circlets similar to my pretty bling one, only slightly less fancy. One will be a gift for a recently married young friend and one will be used at the festival opening ceremony.
I've packed almost everything for the Abbey Medieval Festival but have decided since I'm redoing the tent poles, why not make the awning better, which I'd wanted to do for the least few years (since I made the tent, really) so I picked up the pieces I needed to make that too. Supplies were stupidly expensive, but I was able to get sturdy brass rings from a hardware for very little cost, and the hooks were left over from the tent lining.
I still need to adjust the signs for the tent and print them for theis year, but I can't do that until the program and map and finalised. It's now 6 weeks until the festival, so expect a lot of frenzied activity from this direction!
