This lovely map arrived today! It's an enlarged page from a manuscript, I believe, but pretty great all the same!
The monsters, all recognizable, on the margin but in the world. Its a summary of all geographical and ethnographic knowledge of the time, with the wold depicted as Christians would see it. We can recognise the delta of the Nile river, the mountains of the alps and the Mediterranean sea, Italy and several main islands!

It's not an original, of course, but a colour copy printed which I can use at events as a teaching tool.

With the lovely Edith Cuffe OAM at the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology Friends Presentation this afternoon and what a turnout we had! We ran out of chairs and needed to add more at the back as people just kept arriving! There we are with another ten minutes to go and running out of chairs fast!

I think we all went home with new facts to surprise unsuspecting people at parties with!

It's a bit of a stretch of the imagination to believe that this actually happened, but information from court rolls indicate that Jeanne did, in fact, claim this to be entirely true. There is no mention of the time period that this was spread out over, or whether it occurred in the span of one busy evening.

Personally, four hundred and forty-four times seems like a lot before deciding that the perpetrator was not a rather good-looking human, but a demon instead.

As always, there's more where that came from in the Very Secret Sex Lives of Medieval Women by Yours Truly, and it's available where-ever books are sold, online through Mango Publishing or your preferred book vendor or have your bricks-and-mortar shop order it in for you.
