The Value of Expensive Things

I have had a lot of really nice comments about my lavabo every time a photo makes its way to Facebook or Insta, and some people always say that one day they'd like one too. Here's my thoughts about expensive items and putting off buying them.
Don't.
I understand the expense aspect, but there's also the value for money aspect to consider. Let's assume for the sake of this conversation, that I plan to talk about medieval hygiene for the next twenty years. If I buy something now, I can use it for another 20 years. If I but it in another ten years time, then I only get to use it for a further ten years. If it's an expensive purchase, then it's better value to be using it for much, much longer.
I completely understand the buy something cheaper now to do the job, and I am a complete Op Shop junkie! Second hand goods are often really sturdy, sometimes hard to get new, reduce landfill and and are a great price. Win!
But sometimes, there's a special thing, like my lavabo. I'm glad I bought it when I did because all the use I now get from it make it a worthwhile purchase. I wish I had learned this lesson much earlier in life.
