sister_raphael: (casualfriday)

Bookings are now available for this great event to help raise money for the new Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology Art Gallery which will be hosted by the Bribie Island Community Arts Centre in April.

There's a wonderful High Tea and I'll be doing a presentation dressing a Noble Lady and attending to her hair and toilette as we go, with explanations and museum reproductions as we go.

I'll have a tiny Touch Table where three original artifacts from the 14th century will be on display for very careful handling as well and my new lavarbo hand-washing station will be filled with rosewater for patrons to try! I'll have some of Trotula's scented hair powder for sniffing and soaps from the medieval period as well.

The raffle winner will get a lovely photo in medieval clothes by me.

Thankfully I'll have two people helping out- my niece who is in the ad here and my friend who is also a member of my medieval re-enactment group, Ex Libris Living History. It's held in a covered courtyard, so I'm hoping for good weather. Cross your fingers for me!

I was cordially invited to not come to work again yesterday as I'm still coughing, though very little at home and a lot more at work in the air-conditioning, so I've taken advantage of the time off to work extra book days, and I am totally in the zone now!

Since I've been revisiting a ton of books to review previous notes I've taken, I've found a few more very relevant pieces and I've been able to update my book marking process to be more organised rather than pink for this topic, blue for that topic, green for another topic, which has worked well, but when I'm looking for something specific, there are a TON of books with the same colour marker.

I've been adding a little text prompt at the top of each now, and it's been wonderful to re-find things faster and group notes. it's been really time consuming, but in the long run, will save me days looking for a reference in "one of those books on that shelf" which are grouped by topic of most interest.

I've got today as my dedicated book day, and absolutely getting so much done. I read and re-tagged 6 entire books yesterday with a large pile today but at least the info is fresh in my head and after Friday I have 2 more days straight on the weekend to recompile notes for each chapter, which I have started, but seem a bit unorganised at the moment.

I've still got a talk on heraldic clothes to prepare (found some extra pics last night in an entirely unrelated book) and the art gallery fundraiser presentation needs to be fine tuned. Oh, and the sewing has come to a helt while I do this, but that also really needs to continue.

I am way too busy to have a day job.
