Actually, it's not going that badly!

I fell in love with a wooden lantern some years ago and have been a bit excited that someone has started making them.

Sadly, it's from Lubeck, 15th century, which is outside of my time zone usually, although one or two events have 15th century jousting and a new event this year is 15th century hosted with earlier times being accepted.

I'm the kind of person who doesn't want to be the one who ruins all the photos by having stuff that doesn't match, so I was planning one 15th century outfit and eating kit to have for it, and the rest of my things will be generic enough to cross the centuries- like my three-legged stool.

I was asking about the lantern kit from a guy who turned up as a suggestion on Instagram when he posted them, and for months now I've been waiting for his payment details so I can get one.

Today two of them arrived with a note that he was sorry it had taken so long to send. I haven't paid him yet, so wasn't expecting them! His good lady said he felt bad I had waited so long and sent a second one free. Absolutely I am paying for both. His workmanship and time and worth it, of course. Happily I think 15th century re-enactors where I live will be thrilled to take the second one and reimburse me for it.

Pretty excited, and I can't wait to assemble and stain it. I'm not sure what to do about the horn in the lower panels. That's a problem for Future Me.
