sister_raphael: doingart (doingart)

You can already see the problem here. The black is waaaaay too black. I'm very much loving the lighter, brighter cream paint for the casket itself, but the black base I've used for the faux metalwork is just far too black.

It was intended to ba a base only, and the idea was that the next coat would dull it right down. In hindsight, a different black would have been better, but as I was painting over cream, I worried that the paint would be too patchy and require many coats to get it looking nice, which would result in losing the detail on the little flower pieces.

I can't really strip the black off because the danger of stripping off the cream also is very real.

On the up-side, I can see in my mind's eye how it will look with the darker bands on it, and once the black is toned down a bit, I think I will be very happy with the end result. As the heading says, it's a work in progress.
